CDI and RISTE Sponsor Free Technology Waste Disposal Day

Rhode Island Schools to Dispose of their Tired, Clunky, Old Computers

Chicago, IL, October 06, 2009 - CDI, North America's largest supplier of recertified, brand name computers to the educational market, is sponsoring a Free Technology Waste Disposal Day in conjunction with the Rhode Island Society of Technology Education (RISTE) on October 27, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event is open to all private and public school districts in Rhode Island and will take place at the Northern Rhode Island Collaborative. The event will benefit area school districts by providing them a free and easy way to dispose of their technology waste.

After CDIIn addition, to help encourage participation, CDI is giving away a free notebook computer to the district with the highest weight in recycled equipment. To learn all the specifics of this free event go to: http://www.cdicomputers.com/WasteDay.aspx

This event will also benefit the state of Rhode Island by lowering the amount of technology waste that flows into its landfills. After the event CDI will take the disposed equipment, break it down, and then recycle or reuse the parts. This process results in a close to 0% landfill rate.

"The color of the 21st century is undeniably green and CDI is proud to play a role to foster a cleaner, greener and more sustainable planet. We see the Free Technology Waste Disposal Day as an easy way to create a win-win for schools and the environment," said Saar Pikar, General Manager, CDI. "CDI is proud to be one of the sponsors of this event and we plan to participate in similar beneficial events in the future."

"I applaud CDI for their eco-friendly leadership, legally disposing of and/or recycling computer equipment components for schools and districts. In true CDI fashion, they will assure that this innovative event will be a huge success," said Norm Chapman, Executive Director of RISTE. "This event will be a both a blessing and relief for Rhode Island's technology directors and coordinators who participate, because they desperately need a reliable means of clearing their closets of piles of obsolete equipment."
