CDI Supports The Toronto Foundation for Student Success

Support Will Feed Hungry Students

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - March 31, 2010) -  CDI, North America's largest supplier of recertified, brand name computers to the educational market, is now a premier sponsor of the Toronto Foundation for Student Success: Feeding Our Future Program.
As a result of this sponsorship, CDI will help to support over 500 breakfast, lunch and snack programs, providing nutritious food to over 90,000 children every school day.

"Children need food to keep them focused so that they can learn. CDI is proud to increase academic success for hungry learners by providing funds to support the foundation's efforts," stated Saar Pikar, General Manager, CDI. "We now have an intentional, focused way to help kids that are going to school hungry. The foundation's work is an authentic success story of the community working together to help kids learn better because their minds and stomachs have been fed."
Sadly, in Toronto, one in three children live in poverty. Too many students arrive at school hungry. A 2007 Toronto District School Board (TDSB) survey revealed that 41% of children started school each day without breakfast.

When area teachers were asked what they thought was most needed for their students to succeed... "Feed Our Children!" was the overwhelming response.

"Basically, hungry children can't learn. It's that simple," states Catherine Parsonage, Executive Director and CEO, Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS). "We need to do everything we can to help support and provide these much needed nutrition programs for the students who need them and our partnership with CDI is an example of that."

About The Toronto Foundation for Student Success

The TFSS is a registered, non-profit organization, created to ensure that all students get the most from their educational experience.
The TFSS exists to help students succeed: We help feed students and address issues of poverty, hunger and poor nutrition and their effect on education. We continually search for new ways to help children overcome barriers to success in school. We are advocates for children, lobbying and acting on their behalf.

The TDSB pays all administration costs and provides free office space, which enables the TFSS to apply 100% of all donations directly to its programs.
