April-2010 In Secondhand Computer Market, Brand Names are still Important

Whether its cars, watches or computers, the quality behind an established brand extends from new items to used ones.
That's why, all other things being equal, you're better offbuying a business-grade Dell, HP or Lenovo PC than an unbranded "whitebox" unit assembled by a discount supplier.

April-2010 Going Refurbished Can Keep Your Operating Systems Consistent For Years

Making sure that software is properly set up—with the right licensing—is one of the top concerns of school technology coordinators. And that's why buying from a large refurbisher such as CDI, North America's leading supplier of secondhand computer equipment for the education market, can eliminate a lot of headaches

April-2010 Get More Technology for Your Money With Refurbished Computers

April-1-2010 Secondhand Is First-Rate

Don’t be deterred by the stigma of buying used. Refurbished computers can offer better value and performance than new units, while lessening IT’s environmental footprint.
Consider this: Before you press the power button on a brand-new computer for the first time, it has already used almost 80 percent of the energy it will consume over its lifetime.

January 2010 Cutting Technology Costs with Refurbished Computers

Many district administrators are finding that they can save money on computers by buying preowned ones instead of new ones. The practice has other benefits as well: It allows districts to give more computers to more students who need them, and it also promotes good environmental practices by keeping the machines out of landfills, where they otherwise might wind up.

The CDI Difference

The CDI difference comes down to focus; we are 100% focused on the needs of schools and educators. This focus allows us to provide a superior computer with the longest warranty and the best possible service, all uniquely tailored to the K-12 market.

Purchasing your computers from CDI will allow you to dramatically increase the number of computers in your schools without compromising on service, support and ease of maintenance.

More Computers

Our overriding goal is to increase the number of computers in your schools while working within your budget and technical requirements.

A school that is currently buying brand new computers from Dell or HP will typically be able to get two to three times as many CDI Certified units for the same price.

  • Full systems under $300
  • Notebooks under $500
  • Whiteboards, projectors and Mobile Cart solutions

Learn more about the products we carry or shop online at our eStore.

Better Warranty

We realize that the selling price is only part of the equation when deciding whether to purchase CDI Certified computers. After all, what good are inexpensive computers that break down quickly and need replacing? We are so confident in the quality of our computers that we give a 3-year warranty on every PC, notebook and LCD we sell. If any manufacturer offers a longer warranty we will happily match it.

  • Minimum of 3-years warranty on every product
  • Failure rates below 2.5%
  • Warranty options tailored to your needs

Learn more about the variety of warranty options available on your CDI Certified computer.

Ease of Service

If you are like our average Tech-Coordinator customer, you have a thousand computers to service and only your two hands to service them with. Even the most reliable computers, being what they are and who uses them, will occasionally fail. When they do, you need a quick, easy solution to the problem.

Our customer service representatives will work with you and provide flexible service in the manner you prefer. We are happy to replace entire systems, send you the parts you request or even have spare machines pre-stored at your location. We understand that time is your most valuable asset and we do what we can to conserve it.

  • Friendly, flexible customer service reps
  • Your choice of service (replacement, parts or spares)
  • Better than onsite warranty options

Custom Rollouts

Because of our massive inventory (over 10,000 units in stock) and Logistics Team, we are able to fulfill your orders in the manner you choose. Whether that means 1,000 identical computers being simultaneously delivered to dozens of schools or individual notebooks sent to homes of teachers, our Logistics Team will handle it.

  • Ability to fulfill any size order; 1 to 5,000+ units
  • Logistics Team will ship anywhere in North America
  • Custom imaging makes deployment even easier

Environmental Disposition

While being environmentally conscious is admirable, soon schools and businesses will have no choice in the matter. Legislature limiting the disposing of computer equipment has already passed in a number of US states and is in review in others. It is a matter of time before the traditional landfill method of disposing of computers will become costly or outright illegal. If you have a storage room somewhere filled with old and dead computers it could become a real financial liability.

CDI’s disposition team will pickup your old equipment, bring it back to our facility and carefully test & audit it. Low end working units get refurbished and resold to foreign markets who still have a use for them. Units that fail testing get stripped for parts and eventually recycled down to their base components. This results in a nearly 0% landfill rate as opposed to the dozens of toxic chemicals released when computers are simply thrown away.

While most companies charge for this service our Disposition Team is often able to offer it for free or will even pay by check depending on the quality of the equipment picked up.

  • Get paid for disposing of your old equipment
  • Automatic data eradication of all hard drives
  • Provide inexpensive computers to foreign countries
  • Prevent toxins from reaching our soil
CDI Certified - The Process

Our  CDI Certification process ensures that CDI computers are as reliable and dependable as when they were first manufactured.  See the steps that every single CDI Certified computer goes through before it is ever shipped to a school.
